Using What You Already Have

While having home exercise gym machines would be great, it is not feasible for everyone to afford.  And if you, like me, have a hard time actually getting to the gym, there are easy solutions around the home that can help you achieve your goals without spending extra money.

Before I could afford a set of free weights, I made due by recycling some large laundry detergent bottles.  They have a perfect built in grip handle and depending on how much liquid is inside, they can be used for different weights.  With these, you can do any number of exercises with better results.  Curls, rows, lunges, squats, etc.

If you are reading this, then you have an internet connection.  Have you checked out any of the workout videos on youtube?  There are thousands of them in many different categories.  The longest are about ten minutes, so line up 3 of those and you’ve got a pretty decent work out.  You can even learn something new like yoga or kickboxing.

If you have cable television, take advantage of channels like FitTV and record some exercise routines.  They have a fantastic variety on this channel alone, and in different markets, there are different exercise channels to look into.  Check your cable guide to find the ones that look interesting to you.

There are also a variety of activities you can do that don’t require home exercise gyms.  Push ups and planks are a great way to build up your chest and shoulders.  Sit ups and crunches are the classic way to  get rid of that spare tire around your waist.  Fitness sports like basketball and soccer are also great ways to get fit while having fun.

All you have to do is use your imagination and think outside the box.  As long as you are willing to try your hardest, the equipment doesn’t matter.  As long as what your doing makes you feel healthier, that is all that matters.

If you had to just buy one object that could help you with dozens of exercises, have I got the one for you.  Click here to read about it.

Spend Nothing & Get Results

A common misconception about being healthy and staying in shape is that you have to spend lots of money on different home exercise gyms or pay money to work out at a fitness club.  It is not the case at all!  Around your home and beyond, make small changes can make all the difference in the long run.  And in some ways you can actually save money while getting healthier.

If you have stairs in your home, use them as part of your home fitness routine.  People spend thousands of dollars for stair climbers when they actually have stairs in their home already.  It doesn’t make any sense to me.

There are even ways to save money and get fit while doing it.  For those walks to the store or a friend’s house that are less than a mile away, walk or jog there.  You save money on gas while burning calories and getting some fresh air.

As for soda and snacks, stop buying them.  Soda is terrible for you (even diet soda), so take the money that you usually spend on soda to save up for some home exercise gym equipment.  Keep bad snacks out of the house and you won’t snack too much, especially late at night.

Instead of sitting on the couch while watching TV, do some exercises.  You could do some simple squats or lunges which are great workouts for the lower body.  Sit ups and crunches are great while watching TV.  Trying to continually do crunches during the commercial break and rest during the show.

Making small changes like the ones that I have discussed probably seem too small to make a difference.  But if you keep it up over the long term, all those little steps will add up.  And once you’ve saved up some money from eliminating soda and snacks from your diet, you can invest in some home exercise gym equipment.
