Affordable Home Exercise Gyms

What inspired me to start working out at home was getting fed up with the cost of my gym and being annoyed by how crowded it was.  I wanted to make a home exercise gym that I could comfortably work out in whenever I wanted.  At first, it is daunting because of the cost of some of the larger and better gym equipment out there.  Your first few purchases have to be affordable and highly effective at the same time.  Here are some of the best gym solutions:

Stamina InStride Plus Electronic Stepper

Cardio machines are often bulky and take up a lot of space at home.  The Electronic Stepper pictured to the left takes up 197 square inches of space!  That’s insanely tiny.  Its inexpensive and is a great start to every home exercise gyms.

Other items to consider at the always useful resistance bands.  You can use a resistance band at home to replicate dozens of exercises that you would normally perform with a dumbbell or barbell.  But if you want to use weights, go for an adjustable dumbbell.  The great thing about using adjustable dumbbells is because it is an investment.  You can always add on to it and it can be used for so many different exercises.  And then the weights can also be used if you get a barbell later on as well.

Weider X-Factor Door Gym

One of the best starter items out there is the Weider X-Factor Door Gym.  It easily attaches to your door and becomes an exercise gym.  Using resistance band technology, it creates a workout for your entire body and takes up barely any space.  It cost equates to about two months of a gym membership.  It will work as an effective workout device while you save up for something that works you a bit more.

Cheap doesn’t always equate to good quality, so be sure to do your research before purchasing anything.  Always remember to start with exercise gym pieces that are versatile and work many muscle groups before purchasing pricier equipment that works only certain muscle groups.  Versatile options are always the best gym solution.  Home exercise gyms aren’t usually built in a day, so take your time to make sure that yours is catered to exactly what you need.

The Quest For Cheap Gym Equipment

With the high price of today’s gym memberships, many people are looking for more affordable ways to stay in shape.  For some this means creating an area within their home or office that is conducive to working out.  The area may contain various weight lifting machines and cardio equipment.  For the more adventurous, free weights and resistance trainers might also be incorporated to help diversify workout plans.

However, how do you create such an atmosphere on a budget?  The answer may be easier then you think.  However, you need to know what it is you are looking for before you begin your search, otherwise you will just be wasting time and possibly money.  Begin by thinking about what you would like to achieve with your home gym.  The different areas and muscle groups you would like to focus on.  This will give you a much better idea as to which gym equipment will suit you best.

Once you have an idea of the equipment that will best suit you, it is always a good idea to visit your local fitness superstore.  Superstores are best as they have the largest selection of exercise equipment available and often the best prices as well.  During your store visit you should closely examine the equipment that is right for you.  Be sure and take note of any special features the different machines have.  This is also a great time to discuss any questions you may have with a knowledgeable staff member. Finally, check to see if the store offers any price matching policies, should you find a great deal online.

Next, it is always a good idea to continue your research online.  Chances are good that following your store visit you will have a pretty good idea of the equipment that is going to be best for you.  The internet is a great resource for many things, including reviews.  See if you can dig up any reviews on your selected gym equipment.  This is a great way to find actual user feedback and may give you great insight as to how the gear will work for you.

Finally, once you have the specific gear you would like to purchase, the best way to save money is by buying used.  Your local newspaper and Craigslist are great places to find great equipment at really great prices.  Also, these two places allow you to visit the seller to thoroughly inspect the equipment before buying it.  Always try to avoid taking the sellers “word” on the condition.  If you choose to buy new equipment, the web may still be your best option.  The internet is famous for having great deals on just about everything and gym equipment is no exception.  However, if your local fitness store has a price match policy, be sure and keep that in mind before buying anything online.  Good luck and happy shopping!

Best Collapsible Weight Bench

Featured

If you have decided to exercise at home with dumbbells or a barbell, it is a good idea to get a weight bench as well.  Many of home exercisers will just use any chair they have such as a dining room chair or their office chair.  But this can lead to improper form and may hinder your workouts.

Best Fitness BFFID10 FID Bench

If you are concerned about the space that a bench will take up in your home, consider a collapsible weight bench that can be folded up and stowed under a bed or in a closet when not in use.  The Best Fitness BFFID10 FID Bench is a great option for those that are space conscious.  It is narrow than other weight benches, which might be an issue for larger users, but convenient for those that don’t have much room.  The back support of the bench can be moved into 5 different positions from a 10 degree negative decline to a 70 degree positive incline.  The legs can completely fold up, so the bench can be used as a floor bench or can be easily stowed away until its next use.

Marcy 4 Position Weight Bench

One of the more versatile weight benches on the market is the Marcy 4 Position Weight Bench.  Not only is this weight bench a bit more aesthetically pleasing than other models, but it is also one of the best and most comfortable benches you can buy.  The four positions it can change into are flat, incline, decline and military, which give you such a variety of exercises you can perform with just a dumbbell set.  It also folds up flat for simple storage under a bed or couch.

If money is a bit tight and you are looking for a cheap weight bench, you may want to check for used gym equipment in your area.  You’ll find that many used pieces of equipment were barely used by the person selling them, hence the reason they are selling them.  You can get some great items for a steal of a deal.

Best Fitness BFOB10 Olympic Bench

If you do have a bit of room to spare, but still want a bench that can fold up, the Best Fitness BFOB10 Olympic Bench is the best weight bench for you.  Its frame is sturdy and well built.  Additional features that the other collapsible weight benches don’t have include an attachment to enable you to perform leg extension and leg curl exercises as well as a holder for your barbell that can be set at different heights, so it will be catered specifically to you.  As far as folding weight benches go, you are not going to find a better one than this.  Just add weights and you essentially have a home gym machine.

Purchasing a weight lifting bench is a must get for anyone looking to workout at home.  Any one of these three products can help you depending on what you are looking for.

10 Pounds Gone in a Week

People want to have fast weight loss. No one really wants to have a long road for weight loss. But I would like to tell you, weight loss is a road better taken slow. The shortcuts always have risks, but this could also be a way to jump start your weight loss. This is how to lose weight the fast way.

Ten pounds gone in a week, is an achievable goal. Never think that you can’t make it, if you’re already thinking that you failed, you will fail.

Limit

You will have to limit the amount of food that you will eat. Instead of having heavy meals, try to cut it to halves. Limit alcohol, sodas, and carbonated drinks. You should limit carbohydrates if you really want fast results. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy. If you cut that from the diet, fats will become the source of energy and the one that is burned.

Change

Change the diet that you have, if you usually eat fast or processed foods. Try to change it to vegetables, lean meat, fish, and fruits. Have these servings in small size and well distributed during the day. It is better to separate meals several times a day in small sizes, to maintain the heightened metabolic rate, and decrease hunger pangs.

Move

In every opportunity, try to move and break a sweat. Exercise is the best way to burn calories. If you are planning to lose ten pounds in a week, then make this the most active week of your life. Try to jog, run, hike, bike, etc. Walk to work, climb the stairs, play running games with the kids. There are a lot of ways to move.  You could also exercise in your home fitness gym or get a good workout in using your home gym machine.

New

Try something new. Try to make up your own diet plan that you would really love, and that has low calorie level, but high nutrition level. Have fresh fruits, instead of powdered juice. Create shakes made up from different fruits. Try green tea, said to increase metabolic rate. The thing here is to open your mind to different healthy and natural approach.

Once you get these things done during your first day, then you are on the right track on how to lose 10 pounds in a week. Try to get the goal and after that, another approach will be introduced to you.

More Versatile Home Exercise Gym Options

Buying a few well thought out gym pieces can save you so much money in the long run.  We’ve covered some of the more basic options, so lets move on to a few items that are the best gym solutions in many home exercise gyms.

A great exercise bar is a necessity.  There are many different sizes, styles, shapes and weights to choose from.  For starters, thinking in a versatile manner, I would go with the simple, straight, light gym bar.  If you already have those free weights that I recommended previously, you have some started weights to go with your gym bar.

You may want to purchase some heavier weights too.  These can also be used on your adjustable dumbbells as well.  Down the line as you get stronger and need a challenge, you can easily add on to your current home exercise gym.

You may want to get some cardio exercise in your workout as well.  Treadmills, stair climbers and elliptical can be really pricey.  If you don’t have a bicycle (which I always recommend for health workout reasons and to save gasoline) you can buy a low priced product that turns your bike into a stationary workout bike.  I think this product is fantastic because it allows me to burn a ton of calories while watching my nightly TV shows.

By now, you should have the basics of a complete home exercise gym.  The stationary bike for cardiovascular exercise, the light dumbbells to use with the workouts you find on TV, the heavier free weights and gym bar for a bevy of other workouts and your balance ball to do your exercises on as well as for stretching after.

The next step would be items specifically geared towards one muscle group or a more expensive home fitness gym if you are interested.  For the time being, click here to check out the items I mentioned early in this page.

Why Choose an Electric Treadmill?

Most people buy a treadmill because they want to get into shape, but many times they get used a few times and then either get sold or put into storage because no one ever follows through with their exercise plans. Choosing a treadmill is not the hardest thing to do especially if there are no specific work outs that the person has in mind. Most people looking for their first treadmill do not look at the high end treadmill because they are very expensive and the chance of them getting their money’s worth is slim. The best way to buy a treadmill is to buy a treadmill for sale by owner because cheap treadmills are the best way to go if starting out. When buying an electric treadmill, buying it used is the best way because the used machines generally are in as good of condition as the new ones, but with half the costs.

Another thing that someone should not do when looking for exercise equipment is to buy it if it was seen on television. Most people see something that looks too good to be true so they buy it without even questioning if it works. Treadmills are especially a bad thing to buy from an infomercial because they are very expensive and have a greater risk of having a faulty part. The best place to find a good used piece of equipment is a local sporting goods store or even a yard sale because the people that sell them are usually the people that barely even used it.

So no matter what type of life a person lives or the type of exercise equipment they would like to own, buying used equipment especially treadmills is the best way to go. This is the best because if for some reason the person chooses not to make use of it, they are not out a large amount of money.
